Sound Without Barrierstm

REVIEWS:

Ian Cunningham > PC Review > Oct'03

"I am very impressed with the Omnivox unit...."

"As a presentation aid, the Omnivox does as it claims to, and does a very good job at that."

"If you are after a solution to use in a shop display, or in a board room meeting with a projector/laptop, then this would probably be ideal."

"I have now been using the Omnivox unit for over a month of testing and evaluation, and I have been surprised by the performance from this plucky little device. I am currently using this with my main desktop PC as the audio source, as well as a portable minidisc player."

"When used in conjunction with a PowerPoint presentation or speech, the Omnivox fulfils its task of reproducing sound via a surface. The sound was distributed pretty much evenly around the table, and everyone sitting round it would be able to hear it at a good volume level."

Omnivox - Part of the Presenters Dream Pack > September'03 edition of Presentations Magazine.

".......the newest. nicest, coolest gear around for the on-the-go presenter."

David Bennie > Senior Product Marketing Manager > Microsoft Office > August 2003

"An Innovative professional business tool. The sound quality was surprisingly good. Omnivox® is ideal for business people like myself who have to deliver multimedia presentations and don't want to carry bulky speakers"

Rick Altman > Host of the PowerPoint Live User Conference

"We really enjoyed getting to know the Omnivox, a very convenient and clever solution to a tricky challenge. Our smaller rooms and our Help Centre were the perfect venue for them, and they performed very well there. I heard that one of our exhibitors needed quick sound and so our guys loaned him a unit. He appreciated it and it worked well."

Dr. Patrick Dixon > Chairman, Global Change Ltd > Voted one of the top 50 most influential business thinkers (Thinkers 50 Global Ranking)

".....a useful device for people on the road who want to be able to give extra sound to a presentation..."

Ian Epstein FAIA > Alexander Bursk Accountants & Registered Auditors > October'03

"Using the CPE seminar programme from CCH was a real problem, the software was great, it was just no-one could hear the dialogue on our laptop computers. Training sessions had to be split into small groups so that everyone could sit close enough to the computer to hear it. Using Omnivox however, everyone can sit around our meeting room table together, and hear the seminar. This communal learning has helped stimulate interaction, which in turn has enhanced the team spirit and greatly improved the ongoing learning experience."

CNN > Business Traveller Programme > Aired August 2003

" ....a nice little addition to your presentation kit"

PC Format Magazine > You're the jury section. Succeed or Fail? > issue 153 > October 2003 YOUR VERDICT From the forums

"Anything that improves on my tinny laptop speakers has got to be a good thing"

"Sounds fantastic! (No pun intended)

"A seriously good idea with seriously good implications for serious-use laptop users for seriously good presentations"

"Good idea for businesses..."

"I've seen these in action and they're quite impressive"

"Nice idea for a small group of people"

YOU SAY..... SUCCEED!

Presentations Magazine > Vol 17, Issue No 7 > July 2003

"Forget those built-in speakers in your projector or laptop. A new product from Omnivox® Systems can produce up to 80 decibels of quality sound when you need it - from a speaker system the size of a hockey puck."

What Laptop and Handheld PC > issue 46 > May 2003

"...Omnivox® can be readily packed away and stored along with your projector, an option not open to larger professional sound systems"

"We were surprised at how effective it worked. While the sound created is not able to support stereo, the quality of the mono signal was very clear and could be heard throughout a typical sized meeting room"

"Those who regulary give multimedia presentations in a variety of locations will quickly realise how versatile it can be"

Chris McLean > Technical Manager > URBIS, Manchester, United Kingdom > July 2003

"I could immediately see uses for the Omnivox® around the exhibition floors. We have various exhibits containing graphics, that are ruined by having a 8" speaker cut into them. To have the Omnivox® mounted inside the exhibit, and for the whole exhibit to be the speaker, will greatly improve the looks of all future exhibits."

"We have a few problems with sound around Urbis, where the sound from one exhibit interferes with the sound from another. With the Omnivox® installed within an exhibit, the sound levels would be able to be dropped, as there wouldn't be the directional effect of the usual type of speaker."

"We have one exhibit here called "Imaginings", where images are projected onto a white melamine table. At the moment, due to the design of the table, the speakers actually direct the sound into the air rather than at the visitor. By mounting the Omnivox® under the table, the table would then become the speaker, and the visitor would hear the sound coming from the projected images."

"Another idea we have for the Omnivox®, is to mount it inside our welcome wall, which is a large glass fronted display containing 18 squares of glass. We would like to incorporate a video into one of the squares of the exhibit, and the Omnivox® would mean we wouldn't have to mount a speaker onto the glass, again interfering with the graphic material."

Macworld > August 2003

"It's possible to use the Omnivox® without people realising that there are no visible speakers"

"The sound quality is perfectly acceptable"

"....It's remarkably clear, considering it's playing through a desk"

".. the case is attractive and convenient"

"...fine for road warriors"

"... an elegant solution."

Mobile Choice Magazine > issue 82 > June 2003

".... a must-have for big sound when travelling."

"...Soundbug on steroids."

"... delivers a really powerful sound."

"...works well with personal CD players and MP3 players."

T3 > issue 85 > May 2003

" The Omnivox® is an innovative way to get sound for boardroom presentations......"

"This device proves the technology works at a practical level...."

".....helps explain the vastly improved SoundBug-smashing sound quality"

Jitendra Lad > ICT Network Manager > Queensbury School, Bradford, United Kingdom > May 2003

"The Omnivox® is compact, making it easy to carry with your laptop/projector and can be packed/unpacked quickly for a presentation. We have setup the Omnivox® with a laptop, projector and video recorder on a trolley as a bookable resource." "We have tested the Omnivox® on various surfaces in the classroom and meeting room and are impressed with clear sound diffusion through the material."

About Omnivox:

Specifications:

Omnivox™ can be connected to any audio output utilising a 3.5mm stereo jack socket and can reproduce a wide range of audio frequencies, operating

between 200 Hz and 16 kHz at a volume of 85dB, perfect for boardroom presentations or computer aided training seminars. When used with a laptop or

handheld PC, the presentation can be given added impact; the boardroom table acts as the audio speaker. With most portable presentation products

such as laptop PCs, micro-portable multimedia projectors and portable DVD players, their audio speaker capability has been compromised by their

size; Omnivox™ reinvigorates their performance. As Omnivox™ uses the boardroom table or work-surface to produce 'diffused' sound, there are not the

usual problems associated with the directional sound generated by conventional loudspeakers.

The neat styling of Omnivox™ is deliberately low key, allowing audiences to focus on the presentation rather than the technology, its auto-sensing AC

power adapter, complete with multi-changeable adaptor plugs, means that the world traveller will always be able to use Omnivox. Its compact design,

measuring just 80mm x 35mm, makes it ideal for packing in a brief case or multimedia projector carrying case.

The Omnivox Product:

As portable presentation products have been miniaturised, their audio capabilities have been restricted due to the performance of their internal

speakers. Due to the restricted audio performance of laptop computers and portable projectors, most sales executives are currently unable to exploit

the audio content of their presentations; it is with this in mind that Omnivox™ has been developed.

Employing the groundbreaking FeONIC™ technology, Omnivox™ converts the desktop or work-surface into an audio speaker, the sound is actually

generated by the surface material. Omnivox is ideal for use with a multimedia projector, laptop or handheld computer or portable DVD player, in fact any

product with a 3.5mm audio headphone or audio line-out socket.

The Omnivox Technology:

FeONIC™ technology is based on harnessing the power of a particular 'smart material'. 'Smart material' refers to a class of material that has been

designed and manufactured to react in a pre-determined way, according to changes in the environment. FeONIC™ technology is centred on

harnessing a particular category of 'smart material' called Terfenol -D; this is capable of contracting and expanding in a highly controlled and reliable manner.

Terfenol-D was originally developed and classified by the U.S. military for sonar applications.
